One of the most direct methods companies use to get in front of their customers is by exhibiting at trade shows. Trade shows are extremely valuable for both exhibitors and attendees. Home improvement shows are conventions where several companies come together to display their best products and services related to home design, decor, improvement, and remodeling.

If you are a homeowner remodeling your home, attending a home remodeling show can give you essential insight on available and trending products as well as which company can serve your needs best. If a company has a new product or service, they’re likely to disclose it for the first time at a trade show. This is a great way for you to have a access to the most up-to-date and innovative home remodeling products and services.

Show attendees say that one of the greatest benefits of participating in a trade show  is abbreviating the purchasing process from weeks to a single day. According to a survey conducted by Skyline Exhibits and EXPO Magazine, “trade shows and conferences are an important part of product sourcing and buying process” said 88% of the people polled, while 91% said that “trade shows are essential for comparing products and meeting suppliers in person. Surveys also show over and over that prospects and customers attend trade shows with the intention to learn and gather information. (Source: Trade Show Executive)

Trade shows can also provide you with greater confidence in your purchase. You will have an opportunity to see and compare the products first hand. This is a great way to test them out before making the final decision. Even just seeing something in person can change your mind. For instance, you may have your heart set on a lovely marble floor, but when you see under bright lighting, learn about the qualities of natural stone ; such as absorbing liquids and leaving permanent stains, it just doesn’t feel as appealing as you thought it would. It’s better to make such discoveries at the show than after having it installed in your home!

Know what you need or are looking for: do your homework before the show and look into the exhibitor list and floor plan. Based on what you are looking for, you should be able to prioritize a list of vendors or products that you want to make sure you get to see. This approach should help and guide you, as there will be a lot to take in, but also remain flexible. You may come across a new feature or product that you weren’t aware of before which may be just the solution you need.

Have a list of questions: if you are looking for a particular product or solution. Make sure you know what to ask in order to compare the best options.

Take business cards: make sure you take a good amount, as anybody you encounter is most likely going to ask for your information. You are also going to receive a lot of business cards, hence try to plan for a way to keep them organized.

Attend presentations: it is always a good idea to attend at least two presentations, especially from a company who sells a product you are interested in. You will have the opportunity to gather more detailed information and formulate questions about the product once you reach their booth.

Take notes: you will be getting a lot of information from many different sources so it is advisable to take notes or request literature such as brochures and/or catalogs to better remember once you return to your home or office.

Networking is a crucial marketing tool, it is a great way to develop mutually beneficial relationships with like minded professionals. Networking can occur in a variety of settings: from face-to-face business conferences, to luncheons, coffee, or afterwork drinks meetings. There are also several online networking platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIN, Houzz and more. Networking is extremely important to interior design professionals as it has the ability to open doors to new opportunities. Interacting with the right people can earn you referrals,  advise, and even create awareness of  your company. It is a great way to gain credibility, trust and professional reputation. So what are the Do’s and Don’ts of networking? Find them below:

  • Get familiar – Familiarize yourself with the event and theITALdoors-at-the-trade-show

companies who will be attending.

  • Name Tag – Wear it on your right side, as it is naturally the first place the viewer will look.
  • Set Objectives – such as how many people you would like to approach, what kind of information you’d like to learn or obtain, as well as the points you’d like to convey about yourself and the company.
  • Wear your best attitude – Don’t be afraid to say hello to people around you, everyone is on the same boat. Be approachable and engaging.
  • Prepare and use an “Elevator Pitch” – Be accurate, concise and to the point, you want to make sure you engage your listener from the get-go and keep them interested all along.
  • Business cards – Bring more than enough with you as they are a great way to exchange contact information. If possible, write a brief note on the back about where and when you met as a reminder.
  • Listen and learn – There is much we can learn from other’s experiences, this is a valuable lesson in life and in business.
  • Be Patient – Networking is developing strong, long-standing business relationships.
  • Be prepared – Anticipate the kind of people you are likely to meet and have in mind questions to ask them related to the information you’d like to obtain.
  • Follow up – create a mailing list and make contact with the people you’ve met on a monthly basis.

  • Don’t be late. It creates distraction from the entire event if you walk in late, and people may remember it and not in a positive way.
  • Don’t be shy – do not only talk to the people you already know. Networking is precisely to meet new people.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions – All questions are valid. Everyone is scared of appearing ignorant but there’s no need. The majority of people will be happy to share their knowledge and expertise, so take advantage and ask as many questions as you can.
  • Do not cross your arms – body language can be very powerful. Crossing your arms makes you look unapproachable.
  • Avoid  self-promotion – this method is more likely to be perceived as negative than build valuable relationships. Be humble and open.
  • Don’t forget to follow up – this is so important, we’re saying it twice.
  • Don’t drink too much – Especially at the more informal meet-ups, if they are serving alcohol try to avoid it.

ITALdoors Display at KBIS

So, by now, I am sure you’ve heard that ITALdoors is on the shortlist of industry invites who will be exhibiting at KBIS 2017 set to take place January 10th-12th 2017 in sunny Orlando, Florida. Amongst the growing buzz is talk of the advent of first-time exhibitors who are setting the Kitchen and Bath scene ablaze with their innovative and forward-looking designs and product contributions. It is here and among the buzz that ITALdoors finds ourselves and we are absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to present the best from ITALdoors to the waiting design world.

The ITALdoors Collection has proven to be a heavy hitter in our product line. Our adaptations to the modern  aesthetic by immaculate means and respectful nod to ageless aesthetics found in transitional forms seem to have captured the respect and interest of our audience. Undoubtedly, these crowd-pleasers will be front and center at KBIS 2017.

Adding to the success of the ITALdoors Collection, is the launching of exclusively designed exterior doors and the re-introduction of the ever-popular sliding (or barn) door. Both doors have been self-sufficient and able to anchor their own audiences in a remarkable way. The growing demand for exterior (or entry) doors has become a recent nuance in that designers and homeowners alike are realizing that the entrance of the home plays as large a role as the greatness one finds when entering the home. More and more people are discovering that long gone are the days of standard, austere-looking exterior doors void of any personality and are welcoming new textiles and innovative materials used in manufacturing today’s exterior doors. Commercial audiences are also buying into this exciting trend with hopes of attracting casual passersby into their establishments. The popularity of sliding doors can also be attributed to such leaps and gains where the design of these doors are considered. Rest assured that renditions of these door types will be on display at KBIS 2017.

Also debuting at KBIS 2017 is the team newcomer, flat panel door. My, oh my, has this ultra-modern door taken off into orbit! With its sleek design and widespread appeal, the flat panel door has something to offer to most anyone. The sleek design of this door offers our customers a duality of style and function uniquely found at ITALdoors. This door seamlessly fuses into the surrounding walls to create continuity and fluidity in spaces that are especially unique and those that may have more rigid layouts. The appeal of this door has transcended into more industrial designs as customers are seeking uniformity and simplicity all offered with budget-conscious pricing in mind.

The Italian flat panel door is a smart choice for large, commercial projects for the following reasons:

  • Pricing starting as low as $720 per complete door package
  • Price consideration on high-volume or bulk orders
  • Designer Italian hardware included in each door package
  • Over 70 different custom finishes available
  • In-stock collection
  • Easy installation

Also appealing is the fact that this designer’s choice product is found in our less-expensive Eco Collection and can be sold as a separate entity without the usual accompaniments of a standard pre-hung door.

For the benefits mentioned above, the demand for this “commercial-friendly” product is growing at an impressive rate so much so that we have decided to include it among the other crowd favorites on the day of the show.

So, now that you have foresight into this awesome show lineup, you’re probably asking, “So, where do I go to see for this for myself?” Visit us at Booth #S4649. There, we will have qualified Product Specialists on-site ready to answer all of your questions along with brand giveaways and other important take-home items.

See you soon!
